Welcome descendants of Ranald MacIsaac MacDonald b.1754 in Invernesshire, Fort Augustus, Scotland and Janet Cameron b. 1783 in Lochiel, Scotland. Ranald and Janet married in Scotland in 1797. Of their eight children, seven migrated to Glengarry, Ontario, the eldest chose Australia.

Ranald and Janet settled on Lot 25, 4th conc. Kenyon, Glengarry, Ontario.

St. Raphael's Ruins

In 1970 a fire consumed the church of St. Raphael's, one of the earliest Roman Catholic churches in English-speaking Canada. Fortunately the outer walls were spared and today its impressive scale and fine masonry work continue to attract the tourists to the site. The Ruins were declared a National Historic Site in 1999. These are pictures of St Raphael's taken in the early 60's before the fire. A lot of MacDonalds and Mc Donell's went to church here. Many of my aunts and cousins are buried here as well. I hope the pictures are of some value to you,

Present Day

I never knew that Ranald MacIsaac MacDonald 1754-1859 and Janet Cameron 1783-1863 were buried here. They would be interesting to look for. Janet was the young one that got married at age 14 in Scotland. Had 8 children there and 7 of them moved to Canada, one to Australia.
