Glengarry School Days: A Story of the Early Days in Glengarry

Remember seeing this volume on your childhood bookshelf? To check it out of the Charlottetown library, the librarian had to travel down into the archives. The cellar. Ralph Conner hadn't been checked out since 1955! Read more...

MacDonald Clan Ranald, spelled with a capital ‘D’; in Apple Hill, Ontario:

Welcome to Memories of Glengarry

You may have heard the stories from your Great Grandparents or Aunts and Uncles. If you have come to explore the roots of MacDonald Clan Ranald of Glengarry, welcome!

This is not the only site available by any means! Over the last few years many descendents of Ranald MacIsaac McDonald and Janet Cameron have made great efforts to tie in the family lore and geneology. In no particular order:

MacDonald Clan Ranald of Glengarry County

MacDonald Clan Ranald of Glengarry County is a facebook group that hopes to find extended family members that may be interested in meeting other descendents of Ranald and Janet at the Maxville Highland Games in Maxville Glengarry County, Ontario. The Games are the largest Highland Games in North America, held annually the first weekend in August. To join or view our group on facebook, please click here.

Balaster Ranald MacDonald

Balaster has a facebook account that he wishes to share as a common collection of family lore. If you aren't already friends with Balaster, then please add him to you friends list. He especially likes it when you view or add to his Photo Albums.

Geneology Kayhome

Geneology Kayhome is a site created and maintained by Damien Kay. This site contains the most thorough Family tree that I have seen yet. As it does extend into current generations, this site is password protected. If you are interested, please contact Damien or Allison for the password. If you don't know Damien or Allison, perhaps you could ask a family member that has been following geneology for a few years. We are getting to know one another :-) (Then again, if you are truly resourceful you can find my email on his page!)

Tribal Pages - ranaldmacdonald

Don't miss this one! Diane Purser has created an online family-tree that includes pictures and stories. This site has recordings well back into the mid-1700's. From Lochiel Scotland to Glengarry and then spread far and wide across North-America. Again a password is required. If you are having trouble please contact any of the computer savy relatives you know.

eckford.ca/Glengarry

This site has been slowly evolving since my mother got a computer and discovered on-line geneology. As of November 2007, we are tracking stories and pictures of descendants of Ranald and Janet through their grandchildren: Ranald J., Annie and John Vincent. So stick around and click on Our Ancestors :-)

On the aside

When we first started exploring our matrilineal roots, we had no idea that we would find resources and extended relationshops dating back to the 1700's. Although this site was originally focused on Anne Isabelle (Annie), we heartily welcome her siblings and their descendants as well.

Think we can go back any further? (Isn't this a can of worms?)

Enjoy!
